Collagen Cone Genta
Parasorb® Cone Genta is a sterile, fully absorbable collagen cone that combines native equine collagen with the broad-spectrum antibiotic gentamicin. Placed into the extraction socket or bone cavity, it delivers rapid haemostasis and stabilises the blood clot while releasing gentamicin locally at the wound — making it suited to sites with signs of infection, defects after debridement, and medically compromised risk patients. Fully resorbable, with no second procedure needed for removal.

Two actions in one cone — haemostasis and local protection
Parasorb® Cone Genta pairs an absorbable collagen matrix with the antibiotic gentamicin, so a single cone both stabilises the wound and guards it locally against bacteria.
Collagen Matrix
Haemostasis and a scaffold for bony healing
On placement the cone saturates with blood, triggering platelet aggregation at the collagen fibrils and setting off the coagulation reaction — delivering rapid, controlled haemostasis and stabilising the blood coagulum. The resorbable equine collagen then acts as an osteoconductive and angioconductive guide that supports migration of bone-forming cells, and is fully resorbed with no second procedure required for removal.
Gentamicin Protection
Broad-spectrum antibacterial cover, delivered locally
Each cone carries 16 mg gentamicin sulphate — a broad-spectrum aminoglycoside. Because it is released locally at the implantation site, high initial concentrations are achieved right at the wound without producing a toxic serum level in the whole organism. This local action also allows use in contaminated wounds and sites showing signs of infection.
When to use Parasorb® Cone Genta
With local antibiotic protection built in, Parasorb® Cone Genta is indicated wherever antibacterial cover is beneficial — sites with signs of infection, defects following surgical debridement, and medically compromised risk patients.
Reconstruction of an inflamed globulomaxillary cyst
A published case report documents the use of Parasorb® Cone Genta to stabilise the blood coagulum and protect against infection following cystectomy of an inflammatorily infiltrated cyst.
- A 13-year-old patient presented with a pear-shaped translucency between the upper lateral incisor and canine (teeth 22–23), diagnosed on X-ray.
- After cystectomy, the pear-shaped bone cavity (approx. 16 × 10 mm) showed complete bony confine; Parasorb® Cone Genta was placed to stabilise the coagulum and guard against germs, followed by saliva-tight suture closure.
- Histology of the excised capsule confirmed highly inflammatory infiltration — a contaminated field — yet primary wound healing occurred without further systemic antibiosis.
- At the 7-month review, clinical findings were normal, the neighbouring teeth remained vital, and X-rays showed significant bony regeneration of the cyst cavity.
