StopDrill Kit

Stop drills are stopper-integrated surgical drills. A complete drill line-up across five lengths and six diameters maximises convenience and eliminates the need for additional stopper installation. One kit covers the full IS-III active implant placement sequence, from initial point drill through to cortical tap and fixture placement.

Clinical Insight

What clinicians are saying

Real-world feedback from implantologists using the Neo StopDrill Kit in their surgical workflow.

"The biggest workflow change is not having to stop and fit a stopper ring before each drilling step. It sounds minor, but across a four-implant case the time saving adds up — and more importantly, it removes one source of setup error. The drills are arranged longest-to-shortest in the tray so I can pull the right one without rotating my wrist awkwardly. It's one of those kits where the ergonomic thinking is genuinely reflected in the clinical experience."

Stopper-Integrated · Workflow Efficiency · Tray Ergonomics

"The MD Spacer is something I hadn't expected to value as much as I do. In multiple implant cases, placing the spacer after the guide hole and checking the mesiodistal interval before committing to the full drilling sequence has caught at least two cases where my initial spacing would have been insufficient for the planned crown width. It's a simple instrument, but the fact that it's in the kit rather than an afterthought means I actually use it every case."

Indications

When to use the Neo StopDrill Kit

A complete surgical kit for IS-III active implant placement, covering osteotomy preparation through to final fixture seating.

IS-III Active Implant Placement — Full drilling sequence for Neobiotech IS-III active fixtures across all regular and wide diameters (Ø3.5–Ø5.5), with cortical tap for optimal primary stability in D1/D2 bone.
Multiple Implant Cases — The MD Spacer and MD Parallel Pin system allows mesiodistal interval and angulation verification at any point during the drilling sequence, which is critical for multi-implant cases where crown width and inter-implant spacing must be confirmed before final osteotomy.
Under-Drilling Technique — The dual and triple stage cutting edge design of the Stop Drill is specifically suited to under-drilling protocols in soft (D3/D4) bone, providing a stable final preparation without over-expanding the osteotomy.
Cortical Bone Cases (D1/D2) — Cortical Tap (optional) prepares the coronal osteotomy thread in dense bone, enabling passive fixture seating without over-compression and reducing insertion torque in hard bone sites.
Variable Implant Depth Cases — Five available lengths (7.3 / 8.5 / 10.0 / 11.5 / 13.0mm) accommodate the full range of IS-III active fixture lengths. The stopper-integrated design confirms exact depth at each drilling step without a separate stopper fitting.
High-Volume Implant Practices — The ergonomic tray arrangement (drills sorted longest-to-shortest from top to bottom) and integrated stoppers reduce tray handling time, eliminate stopper management errors, and support efficient multi-implant appointment scheduling.
Highlights

Designed for precision, efficiency, and confidence

Three design features that differentiate the Neo StopDrill Kit from conventional separate-stopper drill systems.

Neo StopDrill Kit — MD Spacer and MD Parallel Pin used for mesiodistal interval inspection between implant osteotomies

Implantation Interval Inspection

MD Spacer
— Confirm crown width before you drill

In multiple implant cases, the MD Parallel Pin measures the interval and direction between implant sites. The mesiodistal size of the planned crown is confirmed using the MD Spacer (Ø4.0–Ø8.0), then the Guide Point Drill with MD Spacer installed is used for the initial osteotomy. The MD Parallel Pin is then placed to measure inter-implant spacing before advancing the drilling sequence.

Neo StopDrill Kit — drills arranged longest-to-shortest for ergonomic access without pinching or bending hands

Ergonomic Tray Design

Longest drill at the top
— No wrist bending

All drills are arranged by length — longest at the top, shortest at the bottom. This design allows the operator to pick up and return drills without pinching or bending the wrist, reducing hand fatigue across multi-implant procedures and improving the efficiency of tray management during surgery.

Neo StopDrill Kit — dual and triple stage cutting edge design on Stop Drill with integrated stopper collar

Stop Drill Design

Dual / triple stage cutting edge
— Stopper built in

The Stop Drill's dual-stage (Ø2.2 / Ø3.0 / Ø3.5) and triple-stage (Ø4.0 / Ø4.5 / Ø5.0) cutting edge design prevents bouncing during drilling and is particularly well suited to under-drilling technique in soft bone. The stopper is integrated directly into the drill body with no separate installation required and no risk of stopper displacement during use. Total drill length is 34.7mm; drill tip length is 1.2mm.

Technique Guide

Drilling sequence — IS-III active fixtures

Sequential osteotomy preparation from Point/Lindemann drill through to Cortical Tap, illustrated for Ø4.0 × 10mm (D1/D2 bone). Adapt the final drill diameter and cortical tap selection to the planned fixture size.

IS-III Active Fixture Ø4.0 × 10mm — D1/D2 Bone

Standard drilling sequence: Point Drill → Lindemann → Stop Drill sequential expansion → Cortical Tap

In soft (D4) bone or where initial fixation at the implant apex is required, reduce the final Stop Drill diameter by one size. Cortical Tap is optional and most indicated in D1/D2 bone. Refer to the drilling protocol chart for fixture-specific sequences.

Clinical Tips

Getting the most from the Neo StopDrill Kit

Practical guidance for the IS-III active drilling sequence and multi-implant planning workflow.

1
Use the MD Spacer before committing to the osteotomy sequence. After the initial guide hole with the Point Drill, install the MD Spacer of the planned crown mesiodistal width and confirm clearance to adjacent teeth and neighbouring osteotomy sites. This step takes less than 30 seconds and catches spacing issues before they become a clinical problem mid-sequence.
2
Drill 1mm shorter than the remaining bone height — then confirm. The Stop Drill depth is integrated into the instrument, but initial drilling should stop 1mm short of estimated bone depth. Use the Driver Holder & Depth Gauge to confirm actual residual bone depth before advancing to the final Stop Drill diameter. Do not insert the depth gauge more than 1mm beyond the estimated bone floor.
3
Adapt the final drill diameter to bone density. In soft D4 bone, use the Stop Drill one diameter smaller than the planned fixture as the final drill to achieve adequate primary stability. Cortical Tap is most indicated in D1/D2 bone. It is generally not required in D3/D4 bone and may reduce primary stability if used in softer sites.
4
Operate the Cortical Tap at 50 rpm — not the Stop Drill speed. The Cortical Tap (optional, purchased separately) operates at 50 rpm / 50 Ncm, which is significantly slower than the Stop Drill speed of 1,200 rpm. Confirm the correct speed setting on the implant motor before changing instruments. Using the Cortical Tap at Stop Drill speeds risks thread stripping and loss of primary stability.
5
Return each drill to its tray position immediately after use. The tray is arranged longest-to-shortest (top to bottom) within each diameter column. Returning each drill to position immediately after use keeps the sequence visible, prevents diameter confusion mid-procedure, and maintains the ergonomic access advantage the tray layout provides. For a 10mm fixture, the correct drill is always in the middle row of its column.
⚠ Clinical Notice: The Neo StopDrill Kit is a non-sterile medical device intended for use by trained dental surgeons and implantologists. The kit must be sterilised by steam autoclave before and after each procedure. Ø5.0 Stop Drills, Cortical Taps, IS Fixture Drivers, IT Fixture Drivers, and Lindemann Drill (LDS23CS) are not included and must be purchased separately. Use copious saline irrigation during all drilling steps at 1,200 rpm. Refer to the product Instructions for Use and the IS-III active drilling protocol for full indications, contraindications, and handling guidelines. Follow AS/NZS sterilisation guidelines.
