When to use Qraycam Pro

A high-tech screening device for dental clinics — designed to identify conditions that are difficult or impossible to detect with the naked eye or conventional X-ray imaging.

Caries Detection & Screening — Under the 405nm blue light, demineralised enamel shows as a loss of green fluorescence — a dark zone on an otherwise bright surface. Early-stage carious lesions on occlusal, proximal, and anterior surfaces not yet visible to the naked eye or on radiographs are identified, enabling intervention before cavitation occurs.
Tooth Crack Identification — QLF™ fluorescence highlights cracks in natural tooth structure that are invisible under white light — supporting diagnosis of cracked tooth syndrome and fracture risk assessment before symptoms arise.
Plaque Visualisation — Oral bacteria in plaque contain porphyrins that emit a red fluorescence under 405nm blue light. This makes plaque deposits visible in real time across the full arch — providing objective, image-based evidence for patient education, oral hygiene coaching, and monitoring improvement over time.

Qraycam Pro works in conjunction with LINKDENS, AIOBIO's dedicated QLF™ capture and analysis software. Images are auto-saved to the connected PC on capture and can be reviewed immediately on the 3.5-inch LCD — then used directly in chairside consultations or exported to practice management software. The built-in driver installs automatically on USB connection; M12 liquid lens autofocus achieves a sharp image within 4 seconds, with no manual focus adjustment needed.

Operating Tips

Getting the most from Qraycam Pro

Practical guidance for consistent, high-quality QLF™ image capture across all shooting positions.

Connect and power up before the patient is seated. Attach the 2-way cable to the camera base for power and video signal. Connect the gender converter to the DC 12V adapter output, then plug the USB cable into the PC. Press and hold the power switch for 2 seconds or more to power on. Launching the imaging software before the patient enters the room allows the device to be ready in Anterior mode from the start of the appointment.

Use the correct patient and operator position for each arch. For anterior imaging, have the patient face forward with a retractor in place. For right posterior images, have the patient turn their head left and pull only the right retractor back. For left posterior, reverse the position. For maxillary occlusal images, stand at the 12 o'clock position (behind the patient) and use a mirror to reflect the arch. For mandibular occlusal images, move to the 7 o'clock position with the patient's chin raised.

Maintain 5–20cm from the teeth and focus before shooting. After positioning, press the Focus button to initiate autofocus — the M12 liquid lens achieves focus within 4 seconds. Once the focus indicator confirms, press the shooting button to capture. Staying within the 5–20cm working range gives the most consistent fluorescence image quality. Avoid skin contact with the hood.

Switch between modes deliberately — start in Off, then select. Turn the device on to Off mode initially. Press the mode button in Off mode to switch to Anterior shooting mode (White LED lit). Press again to toggle to QLF™ fluorescence mode (Blue LED). For Occlusal mode, press Mode while in Anterior Mode. Capture both white-light and fluorescence images of each area for full diagnostic value.

Use auto-saved images immediately in the patient consultation. Images are automatically saved to the connected PC as they are captured — open them in LINKDENS at the conclusion of the exam and review with the patient chairside. Showing fluorescence images alongside white-light comparisons makes invisible findings visible to patients and supports informed consent and treatment acceptance.
